Promoters of the #EndSARS protests had informed the public about a second phase of protests in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, to demand among other things; the release of all protesters detained during the first action, unfreezing of all accounts that were frozen by the Central Bank of Nigeria as a result of first wave of protest and a referendum.
Recall that the #EndSARS protests, which took place in October, dovetailed into the wanton destruction of properties and loss of lives as the protests were hijacked by criminal elements across the country.
Also, the Lekki Toll Plaza became a symbolic scene for the protest as soldiers allegedly opened fire on #EndSARS protesters at the toll plaza leading to the killings of innocent protesters which is a subject at the ongoing Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution to investigate cases of police brutality in the state.
