The political brawl between Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi and former Senate President, Senator Pius Anyim deepened on Wednesday as the former sacked political appointees from Ivo local government area where the latter hails from.

Secretary to Ebonyi State Government, Dr Ugbala Kenneth in a statement on Wednesday said the sack was informed by the Governor’s decision to ensure inclusiveness in governance.

But the Governor has been having a running feud with Anyim since his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a fortnight ago as the two political bigwigs, who were once allies have continued to trade insults and wild allegations.

Anyim, a former Secretary to Government of the Federation had written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, and heads security agencies, wherein he alleged that Umahi was plotting to kill him and other prominent leaders in the PDP. He made the allegations after the Governor had accused Anyim and other PDP members of planning to foment trouble in Ebonyi.

According to the Ebonyi SSG, those affected by the sack include: All Senior Technical Assistants (STAs) and Technical Assistants (TAs) to the Governor; All Liaison Officers; and All Management Committee members from Ivo Local Government Area.

The statement directed them to handover all Government Property in their possession to the Secretary to the State Government and Coordinating Commissioner by the close of work today, 2nd December 2020.

Umahi had last Thursday sacked Coordinators of Ivo and Echiele Development Centres for allegedly refusing to sign a communiqué against Senator Pius Anyim.

Some days ago, similar fate befell kinsmen of former Governor Sam Egwu and Senator representing Ebonyi North who were appointees of Umahi’s government as they were booted out of the government house in Abakaliki.

Following the hostility from Umahi’s camp, some Appointees from Ivo had already resigned before the Wednesday’s sack.
