President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday met with a former Borno State governor, Ali Sheriff, in his office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Mr Sheriff, who left the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), to serve as the national chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), arrived the president’s office at about 2:40 p.m.

He recently rejoined the APC.

He left the presidential villa at about 3:45 p.m. without speaking to journalists.

Mr Sheriff was Borno governor at the formative stage of the Boko Haram terror group and has been accused by many of being an initial sponsor of the group. He has, however, repeatedly denied the allegations.
