Some Yoruba monarchs have arrived at the Cour D’Appel De Cotonou, Benin Republic to witness the court trial for popular Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho.

Also, Ropo, who is the wife of the activist is also present in the court.

Recall that Igboho, who was arrested last Monday in Cotonou while trying to catch a flight to Germany had been arraigned before the court, and he is currently facing trial over alleged forgery of Beninoise passport.

The court, during its sitting last week had ordered that Ropo, who was also arrested alongside her husband, be released unconditionally as there were no charges against her. The court further ruled that Igboho be returned to the custody of the security operatives as hearing was adjourned till Monday.

As Court resumes sitting on Monday, some Yoruba Monarchs as well as many Yoruba speaking supporters are present at the court.

It was learnt that a Yoruba rights group, Isokan Omo Odua, had mobilised supporters for the embattled activist as a sign of solidarity.

Meanwhile, the court is investigating the allegations brought against Igboho by the Federal Government of Nigeria which claimed, amongst other things, that the activist is a gun runner. The court is also expected to rule on the extradition or otherwise of Igboho.
