Aliko Dangote, CEO and Founder of Dangote Mega Refinery, announced that his company plans to source crude oil from various oil-producing African nations, following recent imports from the United States and Brazil.

Dangote made this disclosure during a tour of his refinery in Lagos on Saturday.

He revealed that the refinery expects to receive raw materials purchased from the United States and Brazil in the coming months.

“We will start importing crude oil from African countries,” Dangote stated, “We have initiated talks to secure more crude oil from nations such as Angola, Senegal, and Libya, which are all oil-producing countries.”

He emphasized that the company’s recent purchases from the US and Brazil are part of a broader strategy to diversify its crude oil sources.

“We have just purchased in the US and Brazil, so I think we will expand our reach to most African countries next month,” he explained.

Dangote also mentioned that if there were sufficient availability of crude oil in Nigeria, the company would prioritize local sourcing over international imports.

“If we have availability in Nigeria, we won’t have to go to these other countries,” he noted.

When asked about the timeline for sourcing crude oil from African nations, Dangote indicated that operations could begin as early as next month.

“Very soon. I think next month. You know, crude oil has to be booked two months in advance. So, in October we will bring it from these African countries,” he responded.
