A building located in the Onipanu area of Lagos State has reportedly collapsed on Wednesday, continuing a disturbing trend of building collapse in the economic hub of the country.

Many people have been feared dead in the building collapse that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday.

The affected building is said to be at Oke Arin street, off Shyllon, Ilupeju.

Residents of the area who spoke with the members of the press said the incident reportedly happened at about 1.07 am on Wednesday.

It is however unsure the level of damage to the building and the number of casualties recorded as of the time of this reporting.

The New Diplomat reports that Lagos State has become notorious for building collapse in recent times, recording three incidents of building collapse across the Yaba, Ebute-Metta and Okota areas.

Recall that a 21-storey building on Gerard Road, Ikoyi collapsed on November 1, 2021. About 50 persons were confirmed dead in the building collapse.
