Another tanker explosion has occurred, in the early hours of Saturday, on Otedola Bridge along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

It was gathered that a tanker laden with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) otherwise known as petrol, collided with a car, which then led to a fire outbreak.

Seven vehicles were reportedly gutted by the inferno, which has led to gridlock on Nigeria’s busiest Expressway.

The Lagos State Fire Service has been deployed personnel of its team to douse the fire.

However, no official statement has been made by appropriate authorities regarding this latest fire incident on the bridge, as at the time of this reporting.

It would be recalled that the Otedola bridge has become infamous for tanker explosions in recent times.

On October 17, 2020, a container truck loaded with fabric collided with a petrol tanker. According to Muyiwa Adejobi, the Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, no casualty was recorded as the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and the Lagos State Fire Fighter were able to put off the fire.

Similarly, on June 28, 2018, a massive fire erupted on the Otedola bridge after a petrol tanker exploded which reportedly led to the death of 12 persons.
