There has been  jubilation in Aniocha North Local government Area following the release of  Catholic Priest, Rev Fr. Jude Onyebadi who was reportedly abducted at his farm along the Issele-Uku/Issele-Mkpetime road in Aniocha North,  Delta State, a few days ago.

The New Diplomat had reported the  abduction of the Catholic priest, Onyebadi last Saturday by unidentified gunmen who whisked him into a car while he was at his farm.  The news of his release was  confirmed by a source in the community who was full of joy..

The community source who expressed gratitude to God for the release of the Catholic Priest while sharing more light on the release said Rev Fr  Onyebadi was freed by his abductors around 7:30pm on Tuesday.

He said, “He was released on Tuesday evening and was immediately rushed to the hospital in Asaba for treatment.” It could not be ascertained  if a ransom was paid to secure his release. Onyebadi is the resident parish priest of Saint Peter and Paul parish, Issele-Azagba, Aniocha North LGA.

Delta Police spokesperson, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the  release of the priest. However, in a related development, two persons with the names, Mr Sunday Audu and Maduoogo Okafor have been reportedly kidnapped around 7pm on Monday.

The incident was said to have  taken  place  also along Onicha-Olona-Issele-Mkpitime road. “ in Aniocha North LGA.  The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Olona, SP Chidi Usuolor said he has mobilised his team alongside with the vigilantes into the bush in search for the victims and their abductors.
