*Set to look into other similar cases for effective representation
From Prosper Amaechie ( The New Diplomat’s Delta State Correspondent)
It was a wild jubilation across Delta State, particularly in Ethiope East as the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege successfully moved a motion for the restoration of Abraka State Constituency at the floor of the Senate Thursday.
The New Diplomat Correspondent in Delta State who spoke with a grass section of Deltans said they were in jubilation mood since the news filtered into the State that Omo-Agege has successfully moved to correct an age-long anomaly in Abraka axis in terms of delineation of state constituency.

The joyous mood was more manifest in Abraka town, a University city and its neighbouring communities when the news of the approval of State Constituency hit the public airwaves with women, youths and adults celebrating the efforts of Omo-Agege.
It would be recalled that Abraka State Constituency has been one of those constituencies that were, for many years, denied representation in the Delta State House of Assembly in terms of delineation of State constituency.
Abraka town in the Delta Central Senatorial District of Delta State is said to have been suffering this age-long denial of representation at the State House of Assembly for decades on account of the fact that its earlier delineation as a State Constituency by the old Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC was yanked-off arbitrarily.
The adoption of the motion moved by Senator Omo-Agege on the floor of the upper legislative chamber received unanimous adoption leading to its overwhelming approval by the Senate for the restoration of the Constituency.
The New Diplomat checks indicate that one of the direct consequences of the Senate’s approval of a separate and distinct state constituency for Abraka, is that it would subsequently be outlined as a distinct constituency and with its own elected member in the Delta State House of Assembly.
Recall that the affirmation and concurrence of Senators on the floor of the Senate for the delineation of the designated State Constituency was sequel to a motion backed by compelling facts and gripping evidences by the Deputy Senate President, Omo-Agege.
The New Diplomat’s checks reveal that the move which was supported by positive judicial pronouncements confirming that the constituency in question has been a separate and distinct constituency until it was removed whimsically under past the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC many years back during the Obasanjo administration.
The New Diplomat’s Delta state correspondent gathered that there have been some similar constituencies which were previously created in Delta State but were curiously removed from delineation of state constituencies for purposes of elections.
Some persons who spoke with The New Diplomat listed some of them as including Sapele II constituency, Ughelli South Constituency II, the already approved Abraka State constituency, and one in Isoko.
With the present development, the new Abraka State Constituency is projected to have it delineated into wards for the purpose the forthcoming Local Government election just as it will it is also expected be contested for in 2023 election going by the dynamics.
It was gathered that Omo-Agegge who represents Delta Central at the Upper legislative Chambers has promised to look into these anomalies with a view to bringing them up for deliberation to ensure that no parts of Delta state as a whole is under-represented.
