The Buhari Organisation (TBO), a political group that is committed to the ideals of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has declared its commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, dismissing speculations of aligning with any opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group, led by former Nasarawa State governor, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, declared its stance during a courtesy visit to the President at the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday.
Tinubu and the APC, while welcoming the decision, expressed confidence that the country is on the right track.
On his part, Al-Makura maintained that the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc within the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains united and will mobilise nationwide support for Tinubu to secure the party’s re-election in 2027.
Created in the early 2000s to promote Muhammadu Buhari’s political ambition, TBO played a key role in building the network that later evolved into the CPC and ultimately merged with other parties to form the APC in 2013.
Speaking at the meeting, Al-Makura praised Tinubu’s leadership in ubdertaking what he called “stabilising the economy and sustaining national unity, while also honouring the legacy of their late leader, former President Muhammadu Buhari.”
“We are with you in loyalty, in person, and in purpose. May Almighty God grant you the wisdom and strength to continue leading our nation,” he said.
He recalled the challenges faced prior to the merger that produced the APC, describing Buhari and Tinubu as visionaries whose alliance created a platform for justice and good governance.
The former governor pledged that former CPC members, including ex-governors, ministers, lawmakers, and grassroots leaders, would work to consolidate Tinubu’s reforms and deliver electoral victory in 2027.
Also weighing in, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, said the CPC bloc remains strong and committed.
“Today is the first time former CPC members have gathered in such large numbers to show support for the President. I assure you of our unconditional backing,” Abbas stated.
He dismissed reports of division within the group, noting that over 90 per cent of pioneer CPC leaders remain loyal.
In his response, Tinubu disclosed that Nigeria met its 2025 revenue target in August, eliminating the need for further borrowing.
“Nigeria is not borrowing. We have met our revenue target for the year, and we met it in August,” Tinubu said.
He noted that the exchange rate has stabilised, improving from N1,900 to N1,450 per dollar, and pledged continued efforts to boost industrialisation, exports, and food security.
On agriculture, Tinubu spoke about plans for mechanised farm centres in every region to ensure food sovereignty and lift millions out of poverty.
“Our path to food security is clear. Every region will have a mechanised farm centre. We are committed to removing poverty from our land,” he stated.
Tinubu also urged supporters to ignore political distractions ahead of 2027, assuring that his administration is committed to transparency and progress.
“Don’t let anybody threaten you with uncertainty. At the end of this journey, it will be a house of joy and prosperity for all,” he said.
“You will have joy at the end of this journey, and we will build a Buhari House as a house of joy and prosperity,” he assured.
