A former president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, is currently in Como, Italy attending a meeting of the European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East International Advisory Board as the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) conducts screening for its presidential hopefuls today.
Dr Jonathan who made this disclosure in a terse statement issued via his official twitter handle on Monday did not, however, give specifics or elaboration as to general goal of the Como meeting.
It would be recalled that the former president had earlier this month been appointed to the ECAM Council.
The Council was founded with the purpose of developing realistic, effective and long-lasting solutions for more sustainable healthcare systems, with a special focus on the common issues affecting the Southern hemisphere of the globe.
Sharing photos from the meeting, former president Jonathan said, “Great time today in Como, Italy, at the meeting of Ecam Council International Advisory Board where members held a preparatory session ahead of this year’s Council Summit. -GEJ”
This meeting is coming on the heels of ongoing screening of the presidential aspirants of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
It has been widely reported that Jonathan is eyeing a return to presidency on the platform of the APC. The speculations were fuelled when some Fulani pastoralists and Almajiri communities, stormed the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja, to pick the N100m nomination forms of APC on behalf of Jonathan.
However, as the ruling APC screens its presidential aspirants, Jonathan is currently out of the country, possibly ending speculations that he might run on the platform of the APC.
