Nigeria’s former President and Head of the West African Elders Forum (WAEF) 2023 Election Mission to Sierra Leone, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, on Saturday, visited polling units in Freetown to witness the voting process in the ongoing general elections.
Jonathan congratulated the people for keeping faith with democracy and wished them a peaceful election and a stable democratic transition.
It would be recalled that Jonathan in company of Kadre Ouedraogo, the former Burkinabe Prime Minister and one-time president of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS); and members of staff from the WAEF secretariat on Wednesday arrived Freetown ahead of the Saturday’s general election in the country.
The Communications Officer, Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF), Wealth Ominabo, made this known in a statement distributed to newsmen in Abuja.
Ominabo said Dr. Jonathan, who is the chairman of the forum, was in Sierra Leone to encourage and support a peaceful democratic transition in the country.
