A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Political Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Ahmed Gulak has been assassinated.

It was gathered that Gulak was shot dead by some armed men in Owerri, Imo State capital on Sunday.

According to reports, the attack occured in the early hours of Sunday.

Muneera Gulak, the daughter of former presidential aide confirmed the news on Sunday.

She took to her twitter handle to confirm the demise of her father.

She tweeted: “I just lost my dad please put him in your Dua. Thank you as you do so.

“Allaahummaghfir li (Ahmed Ali Gulak) warfa’ darajatahu fil-mahdiyyeena, wakhlufhu fee ‘aqibihi fil-ghaabireena, waghfir-lanaa wa lahu yaa Rabbal-‘aalameena, wafsah lahu fee qabrihi wa nawwir lahu feehi.”

Meanwhile, according to a report by the PRNigeria, the Nigeria intelligence community have allegedly linked the assassination of Gulak, to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

According to the report, the intelligence was quoted to have alleged that the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the military wing of the proscribed IPOB staged the assassination of the former presidential aide.

Recall that the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, in a recent broadcast, declared a sit-at-home order in the Southeast. The directive had commenced at 6p.m. on Saturday and will elapsed on Monday by 6p.m.

While giving the directive, Kanu warned that the order is compulsory and must be adhered too.

“From 6p.m. on the 29th, there will be no movement, this is not sit-at-home but no movement. If you are found outside from 6p.m. you are dead”, he had said.

Reacll also that the immediate past Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu had also alleged that the IPOB’s ESN orchestrated the attack on the Imo State Police Headquarters and the state headquarters of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS).

Similary, Security agencies have repeatedly linked the ESN to the recent reported attacks and destruction of public facilities in South-East and South-South regions.
