Justice Nkanang on Thursday by 11:30am convicted Uduak Frank Akpan to death over the murder of a graduate job seeker Miss Iniubong Umoren.

While Uduak Akpan is to die by hanging till he breaths his last, his father and sister were discharged and acquitted by the court.

A drama ensued following the sentence as the killer Uduak Akpan attempted to escape after the judgement. He also accused the state of habouring a lot of criminals and questioned why he should be found guilty.

Many followers of the case had lost sympathy for Akpan for his lack of remorse even from the onset while in police detention.

Uduak also attempted to strangle a lawyer who was earlier his defence counsel, Barr. Ekiko.

After the judgment, Akwa Ibom State Attorney General, Justice Uko hailed the ruling, saying the gruesome murder of Umoren reverberated round the globe.

“Justice has been done and this shows that crime does not pay. We thank the court for the judgment,” Justice Uko said.
