The UK general elections might have damaged the political career of Prime Minister Theresa May after her Conservatives party lost majority at the Parliament, but the poll gave 7 British-Nigerians seats at the Parliement.
In the concluded election, the 7 British-Nigerians won seats in various constituents in the UK.
They are: Chuka Umunna representing Streatham; Bim Afolami, Hitchin and Harpenden; Fiona Onasanya, Peterborough; Chi Onwurah, Newcastle; Kate Osamor, Edmonton; Kemi Badenock, Saffron Walden; and Helen Grant who will be representing Maidstone and The Weald.

Meanwhile, Chi Onwurah was the first result to be announced at the poll. She won a parliamentary seat to represents Newcastle-Central at the parliament.
Onwurah had been first elected on the platform of the Labour Party in 2010.
The New Diplomat findings show that the seven British-Nigerians are all of Nigerian descents, either born in Britain to Nigerian parents or born in Nigeria and brought up in Britain.
It was further gathered that the election has left an ever lasting mark in the history of the British parliament as the first parliament to have women majority.
Nonetheless, the poll result was a huge loss to the Conservatives and gave the Labour party grounds to move closer to the mantle of the leadership in the UK in coming years.
