The Senate on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Dr. Olatunji Bello, an eminent journalist and top class professional, as the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

The Senate also confirmed the appointment of Dr Jobson Eseodion Ewalefoh as the Director-General, of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC)

The confirmation was sequel to the consideration of the report of the Committee on Trade and Investment chaired by. Senator Sadiq Suleiman, the lawmaker representing Kwara North senatorial district of Kwara State in the Senate.

Suleiman in his address said both nominees met the required criteria for public office.

He also revealed that there was no security report or petitions against them. He said: “We received all the documents from Tunji Bello and he appeared for the screening where he answered questions about his nomination.

“The nominee was found suitable and it is recommended that he be approved.”

It would be recalled that President Bola Tinubu had announced the appointment of both Bello and Ewalefoh in June.

The New Diplomat also reports that Bello apart from being a top-notch journalist is a lawyer, and administrator.

He holds a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos. He studied Law at the same university and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002.

Bello began his career in journalism at the Concord Newspapers in 1985 and held the positions of Group Political Editor; Sunday Concord Editor, and Editor, at National Concord. Until his foray into public service, he was the chairman of the Editorial Board of THISDAY newspapers.

Bello had previously served as a Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Lagos State.

He also served as Commissioner for Environment under various administrations in Lagos State.
