Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu alongside prominent personalities in the country were not missing in action in the lavish 50th birthday party hosted by an Abuja-based businesswoman Aisha Achimugu, in the Caribbean Island of Grenada last week.
According to SaharaReporters, the extravagant 50th birthday party hosted by Abuja-based businesswoman Aisha Achimugu lasted for seven days.
The celebration took place at exotic locations, including Calivigny Island and Silversand, a five-year-old seven-star luxury resort situated at Grand Anse Beach. The event commenced on Tuesday, January 16.
Reports suggest that Governor Sanwo-Olu discreetly traveled to Grenada on a private jet, allegedly neglecting urgent official matters in the state.
While several government officials in the state were reportedly unaware of the governor’s whereabouts, some asserted that he had traveled to the United Kingdom for official engagements, according to one of the reports monitored by TheNewDiplomat.
However, in a post shared on X by Jackson Ude, the publisher of Pointblank News, Sanwo-Olu was pictured posing with Grenadian Prime Minister Dickon Michelle during the lavish celebration.
Ude, the publisher of Pointblank News, shared the post on his X handle titled: ‘Meet Aisha Achimugu, Gov. Sanwoolu’s lover. The two love birds spent Lagos billions partying in Grenada.”
But while explaining his role in that country, the Lagos State Governor posted on his official X handle that he was in St. George’s, Grenada, to have talks with Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell.
According to the Governor, he also participated in social events during the trip.
He said; “Last weekend in St. George’s, Grenada, I presented Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell with a miniature of the Blue Line Rail and we engaged in extensive discussions on various aspects of our bilateral relations, focusing particularly on tourism, agriculture, and other economic interests that could benefit both our regions.
“Prime Minister Mitchell also shared exciting plans for Grenada’s upcoming 50th- anniversary celebrations in February. It was a productive and enriching exchange, setting the stage for deeper collaboration between our regions.”
“Additionally, I had the opportunity to attend some social events, further strengthening the ties between our two nations.”
Meanwhile, the celebrant, Mrs. Achimugu, whose husband, Sulaiman Achimugu reportedly passed away in 2020 from COVID-19 complications, is believed to have spent approximately $1 million (more than N1 billion) to host the week-long party at various locations.
Interestingly, reports state that a night per person at the Silversands Resort costs $1,060 (N1,378,000).
Further details reveal that Mrs. Achimugu may have spent $30,000 (over N39 million) per night to rent the Calvigny Island, with prices varying from $30,000 to $165,000 per night, depending on the period of the year.
Guests were reportedly treated to a delightful experience, including activities such as kayaking, swimming, treasure hunting, bonfires, as well as indulging in exotic meals, music, and cocktails.
According to reports, to spice up the celebration, musicians such as Kenny G (American saxophonist and composer), Waje, Flavour, Adekunle Gold, Asake, and Mr Killa (a Grenadian musician) took turns entertaining guests.
In preparation for the event, a dedicated website, aishaachimugu50th.com, was created for intending guests to manage visa arrangements, access standby chauffeurs, plan travel itineraries, and find the closest airport to the event location, among other details.
Born on January 22, 1974, Achimigu attended Federal Government Girls Science School, Kuje, Abuja, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accountancy in 1998 at the University of Jos (UNIJOS).
She is currently the managing director/CEO of Felak Concept Group, which initially began as an engineering firm and has since ventured into maritime, consultancy, and environmental waste management, among other areas.
She is blessed with three children. News reports indicate that the celebrant is billed to host another birthday party in Nigeria at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja on Friday, January 26, at 6 pm.
