Police have disrupted a protest by some youths under the auspices of ‘Concerned Southern Kaduna‘ who called for an end to killings in the area.

According to a report by Daily Trust newspaper, Protesters, on Saturday morning planned to converge at NNPC Junction in Kaduna when the heavily armed policemen stormed the are ordering them to leave the area.

According to the Kaduna State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), ASP Mohammed Jalige, they were not informed by the conveners of the protest.new Protest

He said, “We were not informed of any protest. “We only conducted a show of force today and we dispersed the unlawful gathering. “The area is calm now and there was no any problem,”

The protesters were spotted in black t-shirts. One of the Conveners of the protests stated that they were pained by the continuous killings in southern Kaduna and it was meant to be a peaceful protest
but they were not given the opportunity as heavily armed policemen disrupted the protest.

“We only want peace in our land that is what we want”, he added
