A former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr Takai Shamang, has been reportedly abducted by some armed men suspected to be bandits.

According to reports, Shamang was reportedly abducted in his hometown, Biniki, in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

His daughter, Mrs Grace Abbin, who spoke with the press confirmed the incident on Sunday.

Abbin revealed that her 78-year-old father was abducted by gunmen at his residence in Biniki, at about 8 pm on Friday.

The New Diplomat reports that Shamang is the President and Founder of Gantys Aid for Widows, Orphans and Needy Foundation, popularly known as GAWON Foundation.

He was also a former President General of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers, now the National Union of Electricity Employees, between 1982 and 1989.

This also comes after some suspected bandits reportedly invaded the Danhonu community located in the Millennium city of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, abducting two journalists and their family members.

According to reports emerging on Sunday, the suspected bandits attacked the Danhonu Community in the late hours of Saturday and reportedly kidnapped Alhaji Abdulgafar Alabelewe and AbdulRaheem Aodu who are reporters of The Nation and The Blueprint Newspaper respectively.
