Amid reports of escalating insecurity in Niger State, located in Nigeria’s North Central region, residents of M.I Wushishi Housing Estate in Minna have allegedly received death threats by suspected bandits. The criminals have reportedly warned all residents to vacate their homes or face lethal consequences.

The threats reportedly took place when many of the male residents had already left for work. The assailants, believed to be illegal miners, vandalized several homes by breaking windows and damaging vehicles.
One resident, who chose to remain anonymous, revealed that the bandits issued the threat after local residents reported illegal mining activities to the police. These activities have been responsible for extensive property damage in the community.

“These guys told us they were coming for us, and they came. They attacked during the day, targeting our homes when most of the men were away at work,” the resident said. “Many top civil servants, including directors and permanent secretaries, live here. Several people have already left the estate for fear of further attacks. Nowhere is safe anymore in this state.”

The Niger State Police Command spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident but assured that peace has since been restored to the troubled estate.
