The suspected bandits who kidnapped a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga (rtd), have reportedly demanded a staggering ransom of N250 million for his safe return.

A source close to the family who spoke with the press at the weekend confirmed this development.

Reports by Thisday newspaper quoted a source as revealing that the abductors made contact with the family of General Tsiga to make the demand.

It would be recalled that Tsiga was kidnapped alongside several other residents of Tsiga village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The Katsina State Police Command, in a press statement released by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Abubakar Sadiq, said the command is already on top of the situation, and is making frantic efforts to secure the release of the victims.

Sadiq confirmed that a combined team of security forces have been deployed to trail the abductors and secure the release of Tsiga and other people abducted.
