As Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary, the United States Government has extended its warm congratulations to the government and people of the country, reaffirming its dedication to deepening diplomatic, economic, and security relations.
In an official statement released by the US Department of State, Washington emphasized the immense value it places on its partnership with Nigeria, citing the robust and substantive dialogue maintained between both nations over the past year.
Highlighting Nigeria’s standing as Africa’s largest democracy and one of its premier economic powerhouses, the US government underscored the critical role the West African giant plays in driving regional stability and broad-based economic growth.
“On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my congratulations to the people of Nigeria on the 66th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence,” the statement said.
The department described Nigeria as Africa’s largest democracy and one of the continent’s largest economies, saying the country had an important role to play in promoting regional stability and economic growth.
“The United States is proud to stand alongside Nigeria in pursuit of these common goals,” it added.
The US said both countries were united by a commitment to progress on shared priorities, including democratic principles, religious freedom, commercial relations, peace and security.
“Our two nations are bound by a shared commitment to continued progress on our common priorities, rooted in mutual democratic principles, the protection of religious freedom, a growing commercial relationship, and a commitment to fostering peace and security,” the statement read.
The US Government also expressed hope for continued peace, unity and prosperity in Nigeria.
“May this proud nation and its people thrive in peace, unity, prosperity, and hope for generations to come,” it said.
