The Ondo State Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s days in office appear numbered as moves for his impeachment in the state House of Assembly heightens.

There was an emergency plenary session, Wednesday, in the state parliament and about 23 of the 26 lawmakers signed the impeachment notice against the Deputy Governor, Aiyedatiwa.

It was gathered that Aiyedatiwa is being accused of gross misuse of office, part of which was the approval of N300 million for the purchase of a bulletproof Service Utility Vehicle (SUV) for his personal use.

Details further revealed that the Deputy Governor ordered that the N300 million should be sourced from the palliative fund, the Nigeria Tribune reported, quoting a source.

The approval was given during the period Governor Rotimi Akeredolu was away in Germany for his medical leave.

“This fund, provided by the Federal government, was intended to support states in addressing the needs of their citizens,” the quoted source said.

It would be recalled that governor Akeredolu a few days after his return from Germany sacked all the media aides attached to his deputy although no reason was given for action in the statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, in Akure.

However, findings revealed that the affected media aides were accused of insubordination and flagrant disregard to higher authorities.
