A new commissioner of police has assumed duty as the 48th Commissioner of Police in Edo state police Command.

He is Umoru Peter Ozigi. He replaces Nemi Edwin- Iwo who assumed duty barely three months ago.

In a statement made available to journalists on Saturday by the command’s public relations officer
Joel Yamu , the new Commissioner of Police Umoru Ozigi who hails from Adavi local government area of Kogi State is a graduate of Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University ABU Zaria and got enlisted into Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, and trained in the prestigious Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano.

He has served the Force in various capacities in the last thirty years as Pioneer Divisional Policemen Officers have (DPOI( Aliero Division, Kebbi State Command, Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Langtang in Plateau State, Zone 8 Headquarters, Lokoja, Commanding Officer 21 PMF, Nyanya and recently as CP Force Provost Marshal, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

According to the command’s image maker, SP Joel Yamu, the new Comissioner of police for Edo state, Umoru Ozigi is mindful of the yearnings of the people of Edo State in terms of security and safety and therefore soliciting for the cooperation of the general public to subdue all forms of crime and criminality in the State.
