The Inspector General of Police(IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, and Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya, on Tuesday celebrated the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations with operatives who are fighting terrorism, banditry in Northeastern region of Nigeria.

On Tuesday, Muslim faithfuls celebrated Eid-el-Kabir, in honour and remembrance of the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ishmael as an act of obedience to God’s command.

In the mood of the celebrations, the heads of the Police Command and Army Command both hosted a feast with operatives combating insecurity in the Northeast.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Borno State Command, SP Edet Okon, said the IGP was at the Command to eat and dine with the men in the spirit of sallah celebration to boost their morale and show them that the high command of the force and Federal Government have them in mind.

He also quoted the IGP as applauding police operatives including Special Forces deployed to the state for their resilience, gallantry and dedication to duty.

Also, the Chief of Army Staff, hosted a feast event to celebrate with troops deployed to Borno and Yobe States.

Yahaya, who was represented by Brigadier General Adamu Nura, Commander, Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai, commended the military troops for their efforts in ensuring that the country is safe and secure.

Nura quoted Yahaya as saying, “I wish to first of all express my sincere gratitude to the Almighty God for His mercies, protection and guidance over us while discharging our obligations to Nigeria.

“The Eid-el-Kabir festival brings a special reminder for us as it highlights the virtues of loyalty, obedience and sacrifice which are also the hallmark of professional soldiering.

“I, therefore, wish to specifically recognise and appreciate the immense sacrifices of our troops in Operations Hadin Kai, Hadarin Daji, Thunder Strike, Whirl Stroke and other operations.

“Let me use this opportunity to once again pay special tributes to our colleagues who have paid the supreme price in the defence of our fatherland.

“May their gentle souls rest in peace, ameen.”
