The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has reportedly ordered the arrest of O’odua Activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho, over the 7-day ultimatum he issued to herders to vacate Ibarapa area of Oyo State.

According to BBC Hausa Service, presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu on Friday said the IGP intimated him about a directive issued to Ngozi Onadeko, the Commissioner of Police(CP), Oyo State to effect  the arrest Sunday Igboho.IGP Adamu Reportedly Orders Arrest Of Sunday Igboho

In furtherance of this, the IGP  reportedly ordered the CP of Oyo State to arrest Sunday Igboho  and transfer him to Abuja.

However, Police spokesman, Frank Mba was yet to confirm  whether such an directive was indeed issued by the IGP  as of the time of  filing this report.

The New Diplomat checks indicate that Igboho hasn’t been arrested yet as at the time of filing this report.

It would be recalled that Igboho allegedly said herders in Ibarapa  should vacate the town within seven days, following alleged  cases of kidnapping, rape and killing in the town and environs.

However, the quit notice has escalated tensions in the state. This development compelled  l Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to issue a directive to the police to arrest individuals bent on stoking ethnic tension in the state.
