The mother of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho and other fellow kinsmen have decried the visit by popular Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi to Igboho town located in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The kinsmen described the visit of the Kaduna-based controversial cleric to the town as provocative, suspicious and unwarranted.

On Tuesday, a viral video surfaced online, where Gumi, alongside a former Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) were seen together in Igboho town, the hometown of Igboho.

Speaking during visit, Gumi wondered why Igboho, alongside others were clamouring for secession, saying that with what he had seen, there was no need for any group to seek secession.

The visit of Gumi to the town has since been generating criticism from many yoruba leaders and individuals.

Reacting also, Chief Imam of Yoruba in Ilorin, Kwara State, Sheikh Abdul Raheem Aduanigba, warned Gumi against visiting any Yoruba states.

The chief Imam led other leaders to Igboho town with Igboho’s mother. During the visit, Aduanigba offered prayers to nullify ulterior motives during Gumi’s visit.

The kinsmen also prayed for the immediate release of Igboho, who is currently in detention in Benin Republic.

In his words, “We don’t know when Gumi came here, Igboho did not look at his wealth, he spent so much. He took care of everyone including Muslims.

“We pray for Igboho to be successfully released. God will make Igboho come back home safely and meet his mother. God kept Igboho safe to grant him long life. There is no peace in Nigeria. We have to be vigilant in Nigeria.”
