Yomi Alliyu (SAN), a legal counsel to the embattled Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo aka Igboho has revealed that his principal has been diagnosed with a critical illness as he was rushed to the hospital in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
The lawyer who spoke during an interview with the BBC Yoruba, said Igboho has been ill and he’s currently receiving medical attention over illness said to have affected his lungs and kidney.
Alliyu also confirmed that the agitator developed the illness while in detention of the Beninese authorities.
In his words: “Igboho was not diagnosed with this sickness before he was arrested in Cotonou. It was so critical that they had to rush him to the hospital.
“I can’t tell if he has been returned to the prison from the hospital but what I know is, he’s battling ill health and it seems his kidney and lungs are already being affected.
“Even though I cannot tell which part of his body the sickness has really affected, I know it has to do with his internal organs.”
Igboho was arrested in Cotonou, on July 16, 2021, while trying to catch a flight to Germany with his wife, Ropo. He has since been remanded in Cotonou and is currently facing trial at the Cour De’appal.
