The detained 12 aides of the popular Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho who were granted bail by an Abuja High Court are still in detention over failure to meet the bail requirements, including the heavy bonds slammed on them.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Abuja High Court had ordered that the 12 detained aides of Igboho be granted bail, after they had spent 32 days in the detention facility of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Meanwhile, Igboho’s spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, while giving updates disclosed that the aides are still in dentention because they were unable to meet their bail conditions as of Friday.

Recall also that the judge had granted four of the applicants bail in the sum of N10 million each with two sureties in like sum, while the remaining eight were granted bail in the sum of N5 million with one surety each.

Appealing in a statement, Koiki urged all Yoruba sons and daughters to assist in raising the money before the close of work on Monday, August 9.

He further assured that the funds will be utilised for the purpose it was collected.

This was contained in a statement titled, “Emergency bail contributions for 12 Yoruba agitators in Abuja.”

It reads, “Some accounts were prepared to temporarily raise funds needed to move our people arrested at Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho’s house out of the bondage of the Nigerian Government before the close of business on Monday 9th August, 2021.

“Our Legal Adviser has promised to supervise the utilisation of the funds for the purpose which it was created for.

“We hereby call on all Yoruba Sons and Daughters Worldwide to support this drive.

“The account is strictly for the BAIL of the 12 people arrested in Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho’s Ibadan Residence on July 1st, 2021.”
