  • As Three Frontliners, Sanwo-Olu, Jandor and Rhodes-Vivour Count On Igbo Voters To Secure Victory

As the electoral Umpire blows the final whistle to begin the Governorship race today for the different political candidates already on the track, indications emerged that Igbo Voters in Lagos will decide the winner of the governorship election.

Already, the three prominent contenders, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who is the incumbent Governor, seeking second term, the Labour Party flag bearer, Gbadebo Rhode Vivour and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Alhaji Abdul Azeez Olajide Adediran in the race to the Alausa power house in Lagos, have campaigned extensively in Igbo dominated areas in the nation’s commercial hub.

The emergence of the Igbo as the new political bride in Lagos in particular and Nigeria at large, followed the shameful defeat of the Jagaban of Nigeria’s politics, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the last presidential election.

That eye opener, left potential political actors informed that the Igbo Voters cannot be wished away as mere political orphans.

Hence, the three prominent contenders in the Lagos State Governorship election took turns to cajoled the Igbo Voters In Lagos in order to ensure victory at the polls.

The incumbent Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has visited the Igbos in their business enclave, assuring their safety in the state.

Only recently, the incumbent Governor reportedly doled out a whooping sum of ₦100millio to Olodi, Apapa Spare parts market fire victims (who are mainly Igbo trades) as well as laid foundation for the reconstruction of the market gutted by inferno.

The Governor and his party members have reportedly campaigned extensively in markets predominantly dominated by Igbo traders in Lagos with a promise to making the business environment conducive for them.

The LP governorship candidate, Rhode Vivour who is said to have an Igbo woman as a mother, may likely carry the votes of Igbos in Lagos.

Rhodes-Vivour who is already riding smoothly on the wings of Peter Obi, his principal’s popularity, has also campaigned vigorously to the Igbo Voters In Lagos.

His cultural affinity to Igbo already sends shocking wave down the spine of his political opponents in the race.

The Activist turned politician is also enjoying the support of PDP former BOT Chairman, Chief Bode George who have reportedly collapsed his political structure for the Lagos LP governorship candidate, Rhodes-Vivour

The PDP Governorship candidate in Lagos has repeated similar feat, realising the political might of the Igbo Voters in the state.

At one of his campaigns in the Igbo dominated area, Olajide Adediran, the PDP Governorship candidate was sighted decked in Igbo traditional regalia as a sign of identifying with the people.

Undoubtedly, the Igbo Voters in Lagos would influence today’s governorship election results in Oshodi, Idumota, Alaba, Mile 2, Amukoko, Barriga and Okota just to mention but a few..
