Recently released former Delta State Governor, James Onanefe Ibori who arrived Nigeria early Saturday morning is scheduled to visit the Director General (DG) of The Department of State Security (DSS) Lawal Musa Daura following an invitation.

Details of the meeting is still sketchy as at press time, but, reliable sources confided in The New Diplomat that the meeting is not unconnected with his trial in London where he was recently freed after serving his jail term.

Ibori arrived Abuja on Saturday morning aboard a British Airways flight and after his meeting with the DSS, he is expected to head to his hometown of Oghara to the welcome of a rapturous crowd.

Recall that Ibori had on Friday, appeared before a Southwark Crown court in London for his asset forfeiture hearing.

He regained his freedom in December 2016 after spending four-and-a-half years in a United Kingdom prison for money laundering.

The British Government had accused him of stealing about $250m from the Delta State Government part of which was used in buying six houses and luxury vehicles in the UK, the United States and South Africa.

His release in December had elicited widespread jubilation among his followers in his state of Delta where he commands a huge following despite his travails..
