A Special Investigation Panel (SIP), set up to investigate the allegations against the embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari.

The panel which was chaired by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID), Joseph Egbunike, was given a mandate to probe Kyari on his alleged connection with the international fraud kingpin, Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi.

Kyari was indicted by U.S. authorities as part of the conspirators in a mega fraud scheme masterminded by Hushpuppi.

The panel which began sitting on Monday, 3rd of August, 2021, conducted its investigation for two weeks which ended on Monday, 17th of August, 2021 and submitted its reports to the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba.

During its sittings, Kyari appeared several times before the panel where he denied the allegations levelled against him.
