Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja on Sunday(today) for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to represent Nigeria at the second United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS+4), scheduled from July 27 to 29, 2025.

The high-level summit, co-hosted by Ethiopia and Italy in collaboration with the United Nations, seeks to assess global progress in building a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable food systems since the inaugural 2021 event.

According to a statement from government, the Vice President is expected to engage with global leaders in discussions focused on transforming critical food and agricultural value chains, with a particular emphasis on the coffee industry.

Shettima is also billed to participate in roundtables, side events, and knowledge-sharing platforms to promote partnerships and evidence-based solutions for sustainable food systems

The Vice President is expected back in Nigeria after the end of the summit.
