The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, who doubles as leader of the US Department oof Government Efficiency, DOGE, has revealed how the termination of 180 contracts which he described as “wasteful” resulted in $2.6bn savings for the country.

DOGE disclosed this in a statement released on its X account on Tuesday.

According to DOGE, among the cancelled contracts is a $85.5k for the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

“Agencies terminated 180 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $3.3B and savings of $2.6B, including a $85.5K @EPA contract for “live plant maintenance services” (the internal EPA team will water them going forward) and a $265.5K
@HHSGov contract for “social media monitoring subscription, training, and platform setup,” DOGE tweeted.

This is coming some days after DOGE terminated 63 wasteful contracts worth $124 million.

Recall that President Donald Trump appointed his ally, Elon Musk, to head the DOGE as part of his administration’s policy to cut spendings.
