In a sweeping move, the Oyo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cleared all chairmanship seats across the 33 Local Government Areas of the state.

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission declared the results after the successful completion of the council poll which was held on Saturday, April 27.

The declaration of results came amid controversy over irregularities as echoed by the main opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), which alleged irregularities in the voting process.

The party had claimed that the election was a “sham,” warning that if allowed to proceed, it may damage the state’s reputation.

However, the PDP, in a swift response knocked the opposition party for making such claims. The state Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, after the announcement of the results, attributed the victories of the PDP candidates to the outstanding performance of Governor Makinde in the last five years.
