Nigeria’s Return to the 2014 Nightmare

By Farooq A. Kperogi The events and atmospherics of the past few days in Nigeria feel eerily and frighteningly familiar. Other Aspirants Kick, Vow to Stop him

By Abiola Olawale

A member of the House Representatives, Hon Dennis Idahosa, has been declared the official flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election, which took place in Edo State on Saturday.

Announcing the results after the conclusion of the election, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state declared that Idahosa polled a total vote of 40,483 to become the candidate of the APC in the September 21 governorship election in the state.

Reacting to the victory, an excited Idahosa expressed gratitude to God and his supporters for the victory.

In his words, “I want to dedicate this victory to God Almighty, the creator of Heaven and Earth. Because it’s only God who gives power and the people of Edo under the platform of APC have spoken loud and clear,” the member representing Ovia Federal Constituency said, calling for reconciliation.

“I have won the election, and the time of trouble is over. This is the time for reconciliation. For those I have contested with, we are brothers, we are one family. I’m going to start the reconciliation process immediately because I need all of them to win the general election.

“So on that note, I want to thank the people of Edo State, thank APC, thank the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and also thank the members of NWC. ”

However, some of those who lost in the primary are spoiling for war, vowing to stop Idahosa in his tracks. “ He can’t go far! We have all the records on him which he thinks are hidden!,” a supporter of Clem Agba vowed.
