Some unidentified armed men have razed the country home of Imo Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Declan Emelumba.

According to reports, the commissioner’s House which is located in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State was attacked and razed down by some armed men.

It was gathered that the gunmen stormed the commissioner’s House community in the early hours of Sunday and set the two houses in his compound ablaze.

Confirming the incident, Emelumba disclosed that some people called him in the midnight to inform him about the attack on his house.

Speaking further, the commissioner disclosed that the attack happened between 1 am and 2 am, early Sunday.

In his words, “In the early hours of today(Sunday) between 1am and 2am, some people called me from the village that heavily armed gunmen stormed my compound, broke the gate and set the buildings ablaze.

“My gateman, who was the only person around when the gunmen came, managed to escape unhurt but the bandits had easy access to the building and completely burnt down everything.”

Imo State has been in the news in recent times over the surging cases of destruction of public and private properties by some hoodlums.

Recall The New Diplomat had reported that the Imo state governor, Hope Uzodimma‘s house at his country home in Omuma, Oru East LGA of the state was attacked and set ablaze by gunmen.

Several other properties ranging from the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC)’s offices to Police Stations and other private properties have been reportedly destroyed by the uninterrupted hoodlums/armed men.
