Ralph Uwazurike, leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), has threatened to cause unrest in Rivers State which will, in turn, cause the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in the state.

His anger was kindled over the decision of the state governor, Nyesom Wike for demolishing two hotels in Rivers State over violation of COVID-19 lockdown regulation.

In a trending video which he posted online, Uwazurike could be seen pouring expletives on the governor and threatened to send his men to the state to cause havoc and make the state ungovernable.

“I want to express my sadness over what Nyesom Wike is doing in Rivers State, it is time for people to speak out. How can you destroy somebody’s hotel because you are a governor? If he tries that with me, I will send my men to Rivers State to destroy all his properties and I will make sure the Federal Government declares a state of emergency in the state and remove him from the seat” he said.

Uwazurike further added that what the governor should have done is to make the owners of the hotels face the law for contravening the lockdown directive, he could as well seal up the place, rather, he chose to destroy somebody’s source of livelihood because he is a governor.

The destruction, on Sunday, of two hotels, Prudent Hotel, Alode, and Etemeteh Hotel, Onne, both in Eleme Local Government Area, under the direct supervision of the Governor has continued to attract widespread anger and condemnation among many Nigerians with many labeling the governor as being power drunk.

Also speaking out against the action of the governor, Oby Ezekwesili former Minister of Education posited that the action of the governor only breeds anarchy in the society and should be condemned.

“Democratic ethos, values, principles, and nuances totally forbid the kind of action Governor Wike of Rivers State took in demolishing a hotel no matter whatever “Executive Order” he signed. His action breeds anarchy in society and is condemnable. There is the morning after” she wrote on Twitter.

Also on Twitter, former Director-General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Dakuku Peterside labeled Wike’s action as wicked, insensitive, and unlawful.

“I condemned in strong terms Sunday’s demolition of two hotels in Rivers State by Governor Nyesom Wike over alleged violation of an Executive Order. I have long observed the dictatorial tendencies of Wike. His latest action is wicked, insensitive, irresponsible, and unlawful” he wrote.

On his part, a top football analyst in Nigeria, Biola Kazeem wrote that all he can see from Wike’s action is that of a man who is power drunk.

“If you really think Wike is doing all these because he deeply cares for the people of Rivers State, you are joking. All I see a man who is power-drunk” he wrote.
