In an endorsement of Nigeria’s homegrown talents, the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, has applauded Lee Engineering & Construction Company Limited, a foremost EPCOM company established by billionaire business icon, Chief Dr Leemon Ikpea, OON, CON, JP, FNSE, as a stellar example of indigenous innovation in the oil sector.
While on a working visit to the company’s state-of-the-art multi-billionaire fabrication yard in Warri, Delta State, Wale Edun reaffirmed the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to supporting homegrown businesses that drive job creation and industrial growth as part of the Federal government’s Cardinal policy goals.
The minister who praised Lee Engineering under the leadership of its Group Chairman/CEO, Chief Leemon Ikpea, declared: “The government is fully committed to supporting indigenous companies like Lee Engineering, whose contributions are vital to Nigeria’s economic development.
“We believe in fostering a robust domestic manufacturing sector that will propel our nation forward.”
The minister, accompanied by Mr Donald Wokoma, Registrar/CEO of the Equipment Leasing Registration Authority (ELRA), emphasized that the visit highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to empowering local firms within his economic agenda.
The New Diplomat reports that Lee Engineering is a trailblazing firm specializing in Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operations, and Maintenance (EPCOM) services within the oil, gas, and power sectors.
Founded by Chief Leemon Ikpea, an iconic business leader and notable industrialist, the company has earned accolades for its cutting-edge facilities and dedication to local content, including a $100 million fabrication plant poised to reduce reliance on imported equipment.
Responding to the minister’s remarks, Wokoma expressed gratitude for the government’s recognition.
He stated: “We are thankful for the Honourable Minister’s acknowledgement of our efforts in contributing to Nigeria’s economic growth. We are eager to deepen our collaboration with the government to promote local content and drive industrial development.”
