Mr. Niceman Agonebi, an in-law to Hon. Peremobowei Ebibi, a former Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, has been reportedly shot dead around Custom road, Yenagoa, the state capital.
Two other persons were also killed by gunmen suspected to be cultists.
The New Diplomat reports that Yenagoa, the State capital, for sometime now has been recording clashes among rival cult groups, a development which has left many dead and several others wounded and incapacitated.
A source said that the trio were killed at a drinking parlour following two rival cult group clash on Tuesday evening.
The 50-years-old Agonebi, popularly known as ‘Honourable’ was at the bar alongside others including the owner of bar and four others who were badly injured.
Eyewitness said the owner of the drinking spot, simply identified as Madam Odey, had her jaw shattered by the hoodlums’ stray bullets.
The hoodlums rain bullets on everyone on sight at the bar, a source said, even as they shot sporadically while fleecing enroute the Edepie/Tombia on sighting security operatives.
Confirming the incident, the Acting Chairman of the State Vigilante Service, Hon. Doubiye Alagba, disclosed that the state government already have intelligent reports on activities of the group perpetrating incessant cult related killings in the state, saying that the perpetrators of Tuesday dastardly act would be brought to book.
State Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, also confirmed the incident, saying that the command had already launched a manhunt for the attackers.
