An All Progressives Congress (APC) member in Ekiti State, William Ayegoro, was attacked by gunmen on Wednesday.

Eyewitnesses said Ayegoro was shot on the head by gunmen riding on a motorcycle on Igbehin Street in Atikankan area of the city.

He was rushed to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital in Ado-Ekiti by Good Samaritans where doctors battled to save his life.

Ayegoro, , who arrived EKSUTH unconscious, lost so much blood in the attack and died in the early hours of Thursday.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers rode past the deceased, the rider applied the brake and one of them shot Ayegoro on the head.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Caleb Ikechukwu, said he has not been briefed on the killing.
