Some unidentified armed men have invaded the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, abducting about three students of the school.

According to reports, the attack occurred late Saturday.

The University’s Director of Information, Protocol and Public Relations Unit (IPPR), Mrs. Rosemary Waku, has also confirmed the attack.

According to a statement issued by Waku, the university hasn’t heard anything from the abductors as of the time of this reporting.

“The University has not heard anything from the students or their captors since the unfortunate incidence took place,” Waku Stated.

Also, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benue Command, DSP Catherine Anene, has also confirmed the incident.

Anene who briefed newsmen disclosed that the students were kidnapped at about 10.20 p.m. while studying in a class at the university.

She also noted that the police in collaboration with other security agencies has begun investigation into the crime, adding that the abductors would be brought to book.

Anene further appealed to residents and parents of the abducted students to remain calm as the security agencies are tracking the abductors.

In her words, “Information was received from the school authority that on April24, at about 10.20 p.m. some unknown men kidnapped three students who were studying.

“We received that information and we are on it. I know that we are very close. We will continue to do our best to ensure that we get to the root of this crime.

“For now, my advice to parents of the students is that they should remain calm. We are doing our best to ensure that they get their children back,’’ she said.

This is coming barely a week after about 20 students were abducted from Greenfield University in Kaduna State.

Recall that some armed bandits had stormed the Greenfield University located at Kashmir Village along the Abuja/Kaduna Highway.

Three of the abducted students of Greenfield University, Kaduna State were found dead in Kwanan Bature village, a location close to the university, on Friday.
