The Delta Central Truth Movement has petitioned the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, over an alleged plot to backdate the list of All Progressives Congress’ candidates in Delta State.

The group made the allegation in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday by its Chairman, Martins Ederowho.

It claimed that some chieftains of the APC in the state were working with some officials of the commission to have the date of submission of the list backdated.

The group recalled that a Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, the state capital, had restrained the APC National Working Committee from submitting lists of the party candidates of the two factions to INEC.

It noted that in spite of the court’s restraining order, the APC national leadership went ahead to submit candidates’ list from one of the factions to the commission on October 18, 2018.

The statement read, “We want to let the world know that the certified true copies, photographs and videos of their form submission ceremony and dates are everywhere in Nigeria.

“They will soon be committed to prison for disobedience of court order and deliberate attempt to temper with documented evidence.

“That’s why the Court of Appeal sitting in Benin on Friday March 29, 2019 struck out the application filed by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Rev Francis Waive for lack of merit.

“Also on Monday, April 15, the same Court of Appeal sitting in Benin, Edo State struck out a joinder appeal filed by Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, challenging the Federal High Court judgment of March 18, 2019.”
