Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has approved March 11 as the scheduled date for the coronation of Senator Lekan Balogun as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

This was contained in a letter signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Dr Bashir Olanrewaju.

Balogun had initially been appointed as the Olubadan of Ibadanland by Makinde, following the demise of Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, who joined his ancestors on January 2, 2022 at the age of 93 years.

With the appointment, Balogun is now set to ascend the throne of the Olubadan.

The letter reads: “I wish to refer to a letter No.18SELG.243TI/17 of 16 February, 2022 on the above subject and inform you that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State has approved Friday, 11 of March, 2022 as the date of the Installation of the New Olubadan of Ibadan. Once again, Congratulations, Kabiyesi.”
