Valerie Fubara, wife of the governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has said that God will put to shame those people who are bent on destroying Rivers State and making the state ungovernable for her husband.

She spoke at a gathering of women drawn from the 23 local government areas of the state who had gathered to pray for the success of the administration of governor Fubara at the weekend.

While reading from the book of Isaiah Chapter 7 from vs 5-7, she said “The Bible says no matter the counsel of the wicked one it shall not come to pass neither shall it stand.

“The enemy can continue to try and try but his counsel will not stand neither will it come to pass. That is the word that I hold on to, because I know that standing here today is not by my power. Please my women, we will not stop praying, we will keep praying because prayer makes things better and brings our expectations to fruition faster.”

She added: “As we are gathered here today, the spirit of the Lord has already gone before us to perfect that which concerns us, and October 5th is the evidence that you will see that God is in charge.”

The New Diplomat reports that the local government elections in Rivers State are scheduled to take place on 5th October, 2024.

According to Mrs Fubara, the gathering of Rivers state women was called to pray for successful conduct of the scheduled council polls as well as the success of the State governor in consolidating his hold on the politics of Rivers State.

It would be recalled that the Political crisis in Rivers State has continued to escalate and oscillate. This is as forces loyal to Governor Fubara and those loyal to the immediate past Governor of the State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) Nyesom Wike engage in a ferocious battle for the control of the soul of Rivers State politics.
