Tributes from around the world have continued to pour in for late career diplomat and distinguished Ambassador Ejeviome Eloho Otobo.

Otobo, 70, before the news of his shocking death, had been declared missing by Police in Tuckahoe, New York, in the United States of America.

The New Diplomat had earlier reported that the Police in Tuckahoe, New York, United States said they found the body of Otobo last Thursday.

Ambassador Otobo, an accomplished author, writer and public commentator on national and international subject matters, had a distinguished career as an eminent diplomat and first class professional.

The deceased diplomat was the former Director and Deputy Head of the United Nations (UN) Peacebuilding Support Office. Ejeviome Otobo was a non-resident senior expert at the Global Governance Institute, Brussels, Belgium.

Until the time of his death, the distinguished diplomacy expert was a member of the editorial advisory board of The New Diplomat newspaper.

Reacting to his passage, President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday described the demise of Otobo as a great loss to the nation.

The President also condoled with the family of a career diplomat, praying that God gives them the solace to bear the great loss.

This is according to a press statement by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity.

The President regreted that the valued contributions of Otobo will be missed and prayed for the repose of his soul.

In her own reaction, Roselyn Kwamboka Akombe, a former commissioner of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of Kenya, who took to her verified Twitter handle wrote: “Devastated by the passing of a great mentor, writer, governance & peacebuilding expert. You gave Africa your all, Mr. Otobo. We fondly called you Headmaster as we worked with @UNDPAfrica on governance. RIP my mentor.”

Similarly, Said Djinnit, an Algerian diplomat, wrote: “So sad to hear the passing of our friend Ejeviome Eloho Otobo. He was an excellent colleague, always part of the solution. I address my condolences to his family and to the Government of Nigeria.”
