Exactly twenty three days before the presidential and national elections, the Director-General of the Delta State PDP Campaign Organization, Mr. Funkekeme Solomon, has said that the party is ready for all the elections in the state.

Funkekeme who stated this in an exclusive interview with our South South Bureau Chief in Warri Wednesday, disclosed that the Campaign train of the PDP has covered 19 out of the 25 local government areas across the state, adding that the party is set for the election even if it is today.

He said “We are very prepared for the elections. As at today we have done 17 out of the 25 local governments in the state. Voters have come out in their numbers to listen to us as we canvassed for their votes.

“We have raised three fundamental issues which they have to consider to vote for us.  First is the issue of whether Dr. Okowa, going by the 1999 Constitution is entitled to a second term as governor? And the answer is yes.  Secondly, has he performed well as a governor to the satisfaction of Deltans. Again, the answer is yes.  He has brought a sense of belonging to the people in terms of spread of projects across the state including my own local government area of Burutu.

“For the first time, 18 kilometres road project was awarded and completed up to Ojobo.  And the third point which is very important is that equity demands that in furtherance of the rotational policy which Deltans entered into, that there can only be justice and peace where there is equity.  And where there is peace there can be development.  That is why there has been development because there is peace in the state.”

The DG averred that in spite of the heavy task of covering the entire state, the Campaign Organisation has not been confronted with any challenge, adding that although paucity of fund is a function of the high expectations from people, the organisation has so far succeeded in carrying out its responsibilities.

According to Funkekeme, even if the elections were to be held today, “we are prepared”.
