Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Thursday described a former Minister of National Planning, late Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi, as a multi-talented economist and industrialist who was also an arts activist in his life time.

Saraki in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, in Abuja, stated that late Gbadamosi would be remembered for his immense contributions to the socio-political development of the country in both public and private sectors.

He noted that Gbadamosi was a man of immense capacity who showcased his rich intellect through the many positions he occupied.

“His tour of duty included but not limited to his appointment at barely 23 years of age, as a commissioner for Economic Development in Lagos State in the 60s and Chairman of several private companies and government agencies which included but not limited to Ragolis Water Ltd., AIICO Pension Managers, Lucky Fibres Nig. Plc, Bank of Industry and Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA). He was also a playwright and an avid art collector.

“There goes Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi – a man of many parts who died in active service, his status as a septuagenarian notwithstanding. Nothing best exemplifies his dynamism and willingness to serve than his appointment as a co-chairman of the Lagos @50 Planning Committee in his 70s,” Saraki stated.

He noted that the deceased came from an illustrious family of patriots as his late father, Chief Sule Oyesola Gbadamosi (SOG) was one of the pioneer industrialists and brains behind the successes of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo in the pre-and post independence Western Region Government.

The Senate President commiserated with the Gbadamosi family of Ikorodu, the Government and people of Lagos State and all his friends and loved ones, while he prayed God to grant the soul of the departed a place in Aljannah Firdaus.
