Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, on Wednesday sworn in five new commissioners and two special advisers in a move to fortify his cabinet.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the executive chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt, the capital of River State.

The newly sworn-in commissioners include Samuel Anya, who is from Abia State; Ilamu Arugu; Rowland Obed-Whyte; Samuel Eyiba; and Austin Emeka Nnadozie.

The Special Advisers are Achor Nna, a former Councillor in Nyesom Wike’s ward who resigned as the Leader of the Obio/Akpor Legislative Assembly in March and Forgiven Amachree, a former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress.

Addressing the newly appointed officials on Wednesday, the governor urged them to refrain from responding, either verbally or through actions, to the provocations of his political opponents.

He declared that the appointments were made to better equip the cabinet to deliver on its promises to the people of Rivers State.

Fubara also expressed his appreciation for the dedication of the appointees, particularly their commitment to truth and justice in their respective localities.

The New Diplomat reports that newly appointed commissioners were sworn in after successful screening and confirmation by the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Victor Oko-Jumbo, on Tuesday.
