After attending the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, UNGA-78, in New York, US, and stopping over in Paris, France, reportedly for a short break, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had finally returned to Abuja.

TheNewDiplomat observed the presidential convoy arrive at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, by 10.00 pm local time, Friday.

Tinubu arrived in Abuja barely 48 hours to Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day anniversary on October 1 and four days to the planned nationwide strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC.

The President is expected to prioritize engagement with both the NLC and TLC to head off a crippling strike which the feisty labour unions have promised to get the federal government to commit to specific measures to ameliorate the harsh economic conditions triggered by removal of the fuel subsidy regime.

He is also expected to address the nations in a televised broadcast at 07.00 am on Sunday.

From TheNewDiplomat checks, President Tinubu has so far spent 33 days outside Nigeria after assuming office on May 29, 2023.

Within this period, he has visited Benin Republic, France, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, the UK, India, the United Arab Emirates and the US.
